Happy Birthday Margie O'Connor

By StephBurke84

This coming Saturday, June 27 Margie (Margaret) O’Connor will be turning the big 50. However, much to her “surprise” she celebrated it a little bit early on June 5th surrounded by family and friends at the McKeon Post in Dorchester. She currently lives in Quincy but was born and raised by Josephine and Franna O’Connor in St. Peter’s Parish Dorchester and was a very active member of that parish and community.

Harwich, where she bought a beautiful, comfortable home near the water, is a very special place that she frequently spends time.

After graduating from St. Peter’s Grammar School Margie attended Monsignor Ryan High School and after graduation followed her dream and attended St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing. Upon completing her studies and acing her board exams she was now a registered nurse and immediately began working at New Medical Center Hospital in 1981. While she continued working “floor duty” and primarily specializing in GYN/GU care she furthered her education and received her Master’s in Nursing at Boston College. After eighteen years Margie enrolled in Massachusetts General Health Institute and became a Nurse Practitioner.

Her next decision was to transfer from hospital duties to General Medical Associates in another area of New England Medical Center Hospital which is now Tufts Medical Center where she remains working full-time. During a total of 28 years at this hospital Margie has taken several courses and attended various seminars to keep updated in her profession.

Margie has accumulated several friends in the medical profession along with many childhood friends and her loyal pals “The Bettys” which was indicative by the attendance at her party. Being the second youngest of six, three boys and three girls she has always been attentive, when necessary, to the needs of her family members who respect and love her dearly plus her many relatives.

One close friend described Margie as “One who makes herself available any hour of the day or any day of the week when a medical emergency occurs”!

Happy Birthday Margie and Many Happy Returns! We wish you continued success in all your future endeavors.
