Army Reserve Maj. Michael F. Gould has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion, Fort Dix, N.J.The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.The major served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Southwest Asia. While deployed, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.Gould is a civil affairs officer with 25 years of military service.He graduated in 1984 from Christopher Columbus High School, Boston, Mass., and received a bachelor's degree in 1994 from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City.Source: Armed Forces News Services
