Michael A. Dillon Named General Counsel of Silver Spring Networks
Silver Spring Networks, a leading provider of smart grid solutions, today announced that it has named Michael A. Dillon to the post of General Counsel.
Mike was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Sun Microsystems until its recent sale to Oracle Corporation. Mike was responsible for all aspects of corporate compliance, legal, export and related functions for Sun’s $14Bn business. Prior to Sun, Mike was General Counsel of ONI Systems where he was responsible for the company's legal affairs (including its initial public offering and subsequent acquisition by Ciena Corporation) security and risk management.
“I am delighted to be joining Silver Spring Networks,” said Mike. “Few things are as professionally gratifying as participating in an industry transformation. Silver Spring and their impressive list of global clients are redefining consumers’ relationships with energy in ways that will fundamentally reshape the basic infrastructure of one of mankind’s largest industries. In doing so, we have the potential to lessen our environmental impact while powering economic growth,” he continued.
“We are excited to welcome someone of Mike’s caliber to the Silver Spring team,” said Scott Lang, Chairman, President and CEO of Silver Spring Networks. “His vast experience, ranging from large publicly-traded technology leaders to transformative, industry-defining pioneers, will be a great asset to the Company. I am looking forward to having Mike’s advice and counsel during this exciting period of growth where he will be responsible for all aspects of the Company’s legal operations and take an active role in strategy development as a member of our leadership team.”
