Euclid "Ed" Peltier celebrates his 90th birthday!
Euclid "Ed" Peltier, a true Bostonian whose work as the founder of the audio-visual services department at the Boston Public library has affected the Boston community for decades, celebrated his 90th birthday on January 30rd, 2011 at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge Mass. His daughter Melissa Jo Peltier, a two time Emmy Award winning producer and writer who grew up in Wellesley, planned the party as a surprise for her father and kept the theme of film present throughout. Guests received popcorn boxes as they entered Dante’s Restaurant while they waited for the guest of honor to arrive.
Throughout the restaurant there were over 15 stand up cardboard celebrity cutouts along with film themed décor entrenching the space from front to back. In addition, Melissa created a slideshow of Ed’s history and milestones that expressed his love and devotion to film.
Ed was so surprised by the party and especially by all his friends, colleagues, childhood friends and family who all read funny memories, poems and speeches of all sorts to celebrate Ed’s 90th. There were over 100 of Ed’s favorite people, most of whom came from out of town. Melissa created mini books about Ed to hand out to everyone as favors. The books shared moments about his past that were illustrated with real pictures and bound with glossy front and backs. Guests enjoyed and 3 course lunch and an incredible specialty cake made by Sweet Tooth Boston.
The fabulous event was planned by Veronica Alexandra of Blue Ivy. http://www.blueivyevents.com/
