spaziani Names JIm Bollman Offensive line COACH/running game COORDINATOR
Jim Bollman, who served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for 10 seasons (2001-11) at Ohio State, has been named offensive line coach/running game coordinator at Boston College, according to an announcement made by head coach Frank Spaziani.
“I am very pleased to welcome Jim to the Boston College staff,” Spaziani said. “As a former offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program.”
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” Bollman said. “One of the most important and rewarding parts of my career has been working with outstanding people, and I look forward to working with Frank Spaziani and his staff. I’m very familiar with the ACC, having coached at NC State and Virginia. Boston College has a great offensive line tradition and has produced some of the best talent in the NFL. I look forward to the challenge of continuing and enhancing that tradition.”
Bollman tutored 10 linemen that made NFL rosters during his 10-year tenure as the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, Bollman came to Ohio State from the Chicago Bears, where he spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons as tight ends coach. He was the tight ends coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998 and has collegiate coaching experience at Michigan State, Virginia, Youngstown State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio) on his impressive resume.
Bollman played college football at Ohio University. He won four letters as an offensive lineman for the Bobcats and was team captain as a senior in 1976. He graduated from Ohio University in 1977 with a degree in education. He was inducted into the Ashtabula County Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
Bollman and his wife Terri, a native of Kettering and also a graduate of Ohio University, have two daughters, Courtney and Stephanie.
Sean Devine, who has coached BC’s offensive line the past three seasons, will now coach BC’s tight ends and work with the offense. Spaziani said further staff announcements are forthcoming.
